Summary

We are creating a library laboratory to grow the organizational structure for the SALUS PUBLICA Library, a visionary knowledge and
solution generator for sustainability opening in 2020.

Description

The SALUS PUBLICA Library project was born out of a deep desire to solve a difficult problem: how can we educate others about sustainability while also inspiring them to action?

We want to create a space for people to discover tools for implementing sustainability in their own and their families‘ lives and ultimately the world.

Our EcoCrowd campaign is the first step to bring that vision into reality with the library laboratory.

The library laboratory is a knowledge curator, maker and hacker space, culture zone, digital think tank and steering group of the SALUS PUBLICA Library project. Until the  opening of the library in 2020, the laboratory will create the organizational structures of the five teams that will later give life to the library.

[More about the library lab]

Why do we need your support?

We want to open up a new space where people with ideas for sustainable practices in society and our environment can access inspiration and possibilities for realization. We will provide a special environment where transformation can begin. Very different sources of knowledge and inspiration will be made readily available to the general public. In order to activate this space and make the work of the library laboratory possible, we need materials and services (e.g. computers, furniture, craftspeople).

What is the funded money used for?

4.300 € Software and advanced technology
2.300 € Computers and screens for our lab teams (used and refurbished)
1.300 € Furniture for our lab teams (used and refurbished)
500 € General materials and services for the work of the library lab

We will purchase equipment for the five lab teams that form the library laboratory. These teams will help shape the individual areas of the SALUS PUBLICA Library and prepare for the opening of the library itself.

The teams and their equipment will become a part of the library when it opens in 2020.

With every donation you do not only contribute to our project, you also directly support the creation of solutions for a sustainable future. You  will be helping to open a space where visionaries and courageous actionmakers can together create the groundwork for change.

Why is the project an EcoCrowd project?

We are providing a means to bring sustainability ideas and practices to the general public. The project will be contributing solutions to all areas of sustainability. We are committed to be as resource-efficient as possible.

[More about the project]

Tell us something about yourself.

The SALUS PUBLICA Library project was launched in 2015.

[More about the history of the project]

Today, we are a colorful team of people from all over Germany for whom sustainability is a personal concern. All of us stand for the approach of making things better rather than complaining or sitting idly by.

We want to bring together people who share this approach in the SALUS PUBLICA Library.

They will be able to gain knowledge, share their visions and develop new concepts. These can be carried back into society as feasible solutions to the growing sustainability challenges faced by Germany and the world.

The SALUS PUBLICA Library is supported by hibisca e V. Berlin (www.hibisca.de, officially acknowledged charity). This association promotes the entire spectrum of sustainability issues such as environmental, nature and animal protection, education for sustainable development, science and research for sustainability, and cultural and intercultural understanding.

We shape the future, because ...

we collect ideas for sustainable development from all areas and disciplines in order to make them accessible to the general public. The SALUS PUBLICA Library will support creation, from the initial idea to its complete implementation. In our free experimental space the future can be courageously conceived and actions toward its realization begun.
