Summary

We want to print the German, Turkish, Arabic and Kurdish edition of the book “Make Rojava Green Again”. The book describes the ecological challenges in Rojava, Northern-Syria and possible solutions.

Description

As first step of our campaign Make Rojava Green Again we wrote a book in order to present us and our campaign to the public, to inform about the situation in Rojava and also to call for solidarity.

With the sellings and by donations we want to support ecological projects in Rojava, Northern-Syria. Above that we want to reach experts in the whole world to bring them to Rojava to work together on different projects – the reforestation, renewable energies, recycling, water filtration and many more.

The English version of the book is already funded. A draft you can find online: https://issuu.com/dogsectionpress/docs/mrgadraft

The preface of the book is written by Debbie Bookchin. She describes the book as follows:

This book answers that question. In language that bridges the Utopian and the concrete, the poetic and the everyday, the Internationalist Commune of Rojava has produced both a vision and a manual for what a free, ecological society can look like. In these pages you will find a philosophical introduction to the idea of social ecology, a theory that argues that only when we end the hierarchical relations between human beings (men over women, young over old, one ethnicity or religion over another, etc.) will we be able to heal our relationship with the natural world.

What is the funded money used for?

2.000 € 750 copies of the book in Kurdish
2.000 € 750 copies of the book in Arabic
2.000 € 750 copies of the book in Turkish
4.000 € 1500 copies of the book in German

The money will be used for the printing of the book in German, Turkish, Arabic and Kurdish. The money of the sells will go completely back into the projects. The books will cost not more than 5€. We also find it very important to also translate and print the books in Turkish, Arabic and Kurdish to transport and spread our ideas and the ecological perspective better. For that we want to collect money with this crowdfunding campaign.

Why is the project an EcoCrowd project?

We see the book as a fundament of our practical ecological works. We already started to build up a tree nursery in Rojava and we just started to plant some trees. In the meanwhile we do research on various topics which are important for the region and we want to implement pilot projects, i.e. we work on wind- and solar energy.

The book will be produced by the use of recycling paper and will be printed in Hamburg, Germany.

Internationalist Commune – learn, support, organize

For many years, we, internationalists from all over the world, have been working on many facets of the Rojava Revolution. Inspired by the revolutionary perspective of the Kurdish freedom movement, we are here to learn, and to support and help develop existing projects. It is our aim to organize a new generation of internationalists to challenge capitalist modernity. Supported by the youth movement in Rojava (YCR/YJC), we established the Internationalist Commune of Rojava in early 2017. To date, our projects have include  organizing educational activities, delegations, language courses, and the construction of the first civilian academy for internationalists in Rojava.

We have responsibility for the future, because ...

the way of living, mode of production in current is shaping our relations between each other as well as the relation to the nature. In order to change them, we have to change ourselves!
